A Little Slow but Still Steady

Hey You!

Happy New Year!

We’ve got a sunny snowy morning up here in Vermont and I want to give you an update on what in the world is up with these songs.

All five song babies are completely mixed and I’m waiting to get them back from the engineer who is mastering them. The mastering process is the final polish, and takes each song from the finished mix to a high resolution version. I really don’t understand the magic of that process, but imagine going from 2D to 3D but in song form. I have one fully mastered song, This Old Grave, and I’m just waiting on the other four.

Once I have all the songs back and mastered, then I can begin releasing. I imagine this year will be a lot of promotion, a lot of content about the songwriting process, where my inspiration came from, and of course, the songs themselves!
This particular aspect of the release is daunting because it feels like throwing a bunch of spaghetti on the wall to see what sticks. I suppose it can be considered the final push of putting out new work, but I’d rather be in a mindset of ready and relaxed releasing.

That being said, thank you for your patience as I continue this journey of preparing these songs for you and the wider world. I’m excited to share them, whether they be released one single at a time, or as a whole record (I’m once again leaning toward the latter option - there are so many choices to be made!!!)

I hope you’re staying healthy and reasonably happy in this bone chilling time. Do what you can to keep yourself afloat. As always, reach out if you have any questions about this work and where we’re at in the process, or if you just want to say hello.

Thanks for being here.

With heart,

Allison
